TORY LANEZ: NOW IT CAN BE TOLD

The Mad Love/Interscope breakout—now part of the conversation for Best New Artist—scored #1 Rhythm and Urban smashes with “Say It” and “Luv” and a Top 5 SPS debut with album I Told You.

In your opinion, what is the secret to a catchy song?
Making sure the vibe feels right, catchy production, great melodies and a great topic.

What are your thoughts on the Grammys in general?
I believe it’s one of the most important awards you can receive.

Describe the reasons behind the interludes you included on I Told You?
To bring the audience into the experience I had before I got to this point in life.

Your ability to crowd-surf during your live shows is virtually unmatched--how did that come about, and do you do this at every show?
I grew up as a kid that was always on the jungle gym. I believe somewhere down the line I took those talents and put them into my live show.

Who was the most important collaborator you had for your album project, and why?
Play Picasso
. I have done most of my production work with him, and the two of us put the album together.
