RCA’s Alex Da Kid has joined forces with IBM’s Watson to take data insights on music and culture and turn it into music. Their collaboration has resulted in an ad that made its debut on ESPN’s Monday Night Football last night.
Alex Da Kid told Elvis Duran in an interview Monday morning that Watson processed information about trends in hit songs and pop culture over the last five years to get started on their collaboration.
“I’m a huge nerd—I love technology,” Alex told Duran. “[Computers] are a lot smarter than most people. Don’t think it’s here to replace anybody. It’s different way to get inspired.”
The commercial debuted on the heels of the release of his first single, “Not Easy,” featuring X Ambassadors, Elle King & Wiz Khalifa on KIDinaKORNER/RCA Records. The track, currently trending Top 20 at iTunes, will be impacting radio on 11/7.
Below is the interview with Duran. After discussing Alex’s career as a producer, they start talking about Watson at the 3:40 mark.
