AVANT RECEIVES ANOTHER HONOR

Clarence Avant is getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today.

The legendary exec, who’s 85, was closely associated with Quincy Jones (who called him “the godfather of the industry”), Bill Withers, Dennis Coffey, The Presidents, and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. He launched and owned the indie labels Sussex and Tabu as well as the pubcos Avant Garde and Interior Music, and was later Chairman of Motown. Avant has been a major power broker for the last four decades and is beloved by countless top executives and artists to this day.

The ceremony is scheduled for 11:30am at 6363 Hollywood Blvd.
