Broken Bow’s Jason Aldean (via RED) has officially bowed at #1 on the HITS Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart with 139k for They Don’t Know. On the Album Sales Chart, he moved 132k—enough to be #1 there, as well.
Seven debuts managed to make it into the Top 15 this week. Those are The Head and the Heart’s Signs of Light (Warner Bros.) at #4 with 41k, Bastille’s Wild World (Virgin) at #5 with just a little over a hundred units less than Light, The Beatles’ Live at the Hollywood Bowl (Capitol) at #7 with 37k, Jack White’s Acoustic Recordings (Third Man/Columbia) at #12 with 26k, Wilco’s Shmilco (Anti/Epitaph) at #13 with just south of 26k and Of Mice of Men’s Cold War (Rise) at #15 with 22k.
Interestingly, on the Album Sales Chart, those seven releases completely make up the Top 7. Three more sets bow in the Top 15 there. Those are Local Natives’ Sunlit Youth (LVR) at #10, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ Skeleton Tree (Bad Seed Ltd.) at #14 and Gavin DeGraw’s Something Worth Saving (RCA) at #15. On the Album Sales Chart, a whopping 20 releases appear in the Top 50 this week.
As for this week’s most notable SPS increase, Republic’s Ariana Grande breaks back into the Top 10, as Dangerous Woman lands at #8 with 30k. We have a feeling Dangerous Weasel—a live album of songs from HITS’ karaoke night—will not be as successful.
Grande’s current single, “Side to Side,” featuring Nicki Minaj, is largely responsible for her album’s spike, as it continues to heat up at radio. And the music video has pulled in 87m views in the two weeks it’s been out. It’s also worth noting that the songstress performed on Ellen the other day (9/14).
Streeting this week are albums from Warner Bros.’ Mac Miller, RCA’s Usher, Hopeless’ Taking Back Sunday, Interscope’s AlunaGeorge, Ingrooves’ Against Me!, BMG/Vagrant’s Bad Suns, Hub’s Dawes and Savoy’s Meat Loaf, along with a Ray Price tribute by Legacy’s Willie Nelson.
