FIFA 17 ST: SCHNUR’S NEW BATCH OF SOCCER SONGS

EA has broken out the soundtrack to FIFA 17, the latest edition of the perennial global smash, which arrives in late September. As usual, Steve Schnur and his posse have assembled a wildly eclectic playlist that pivots between prominent acts—including Phantogram, Empire of the Sun, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Two Door Cinema Club, Kygo, Bastille, ZHU, Glass Animals and Jagwar Ma—and intriguing newcomers like Declan McKenna, Rat Boy, Lewis Del Mar, Lola Cola and Spring King.

Not only that, but Schnur’s ST will premiere tracks from Beck, Bishop Briggs, Capital Cities, Sofi Tukker, Souls, Systema Solar, Barns Courtney, HUNTAR and FIFA vets Kasabian.

As NME points out, there’s a heavy concentration of U.K. acts in the mix, and this game “might be one of the most important platforms for British music right now.” Meaning Schnur has done a solid for U.K. music, whether that was his intention or not.

You can sample 37 of the 50+ tracks on this dedicated Spotify playlist:
