U.K. SIGNINGS: RCA'S NEW JV,
LEWIS WATSON, MAGIC GANG

There have been a wealth of new signings in Blighty of late, with Colin Barlow's Sony imprint RCA forming a new JV, and Max Lousada’s Warner and Martin Goldschmidt’s Cooking Vinyl welcoming artists to their roster.

Young grime rapper Isaiah Dreads (pictured, right), who’s had support from BBC Radio 1Xtra, has joined RCA as the first to sign to 101 Music, a newly launched RCA imprint helmed by producer/composer ZDot. Julie Mannion at songwriting/production team Xenomania manages him.

Rock quartet The Magic Gang (pictured, left), published by Sarah Liversedge’s BDi Music and managed by Mike Watson at Flatcap Music, have signed to Warner Music U.K. The band will release an EP on 9/23 and will play their first headline show at London venue Scala on 9/28.

Lewis Watson is taking the label services route for the follow-up to his Warner debut The Morning, signing with Cooking Vinyl worldwide. The Morning hit #28 on the U.K. Charts in 2014; the new album will be out next year.

Elsewhere, independent British band Pulled Apart By Horses have signed an international deal with Raw Power Management. The agreement includes a funding package secured by Raw Power and Amplify Music that will allow the band to explore new routes to market.

And last but not least, London trio Flawes, managed by Jamie Ahye, have joined the roster of Greg Hammer’s Red Bull Records. They will re-release their debut EPs, UNSPKN and CTRL.

Lewis Watson is moving to Cooking Vinyl from Warners for his second album. Seen prior to their local’s darts tourney are (l-r) SSB’s Laurence Abrahams, Red Light Management’s Matt Johnson, Watson, and Cooking Vinyl’s Rob Collins and Martin Goldschmidt.
