Sunday night’s season-preview episode of The Voice (which aired following the Rio Olympics Closing Ceremony on NBC and attracted 10.41m viewers ) offered the first taste of the new coaches lineup, with Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys sitting on the thrones most recently occupied by Pharrell Williams and Christina Aguilera. In the show’s climax, the big-voiced newcomers joined incumbents Adam Levine and Blake Shelton on a spirited rendition of Aerosmith’s “Dream On.”
The initial media and social-media buzz about the disarming newcomers has been largely positive, and with the Olympics lead-in, the ratings are expected to be solid. Stay tuned for updates.
Season 11 of The Voice kicks off 9/17, going head-to-head with ABC’s Dancing With the Stars and ESPN’S Monday Night Football.
