WHEN WILL PANDORA OPEN THE BOX?

You may have seen the Wall Street Journal story about the pending launch of Pandora’s on-demand streaming service, which suggested said service (built on the bones of acquisition Rdio) has closed the labels and might see the light of day by next month. While speculation about Pandora’s new services have been floating around the industry since their acquisition of Rdio, sources close to the talks have implied that the streamery will be rolling out its new tiers of service in measured phases, and that the WSJ’s timetable on full on-demand and international expansion was probably too aggressive. The company is touting its mid-tier subscription offering (with commercial-free streaming radio and on-demand playlists for $4.99/month) as a key differentiator.
