ROCKY HORROR EXPANDS ITS BRAND

Artist Legacy Group is in the mood for a little time warp. The brand management company has inked a deal with 20th Century Fox Consumer Products and Lou Adler to represent The Rocky Horror Picture Show, managing and expanding its associated product lines.

The first pelvic thrust of the campaign will be in the lingerie department  as Hanky Panky Ltd. unveils this fall a Rocky Horror-inspired lingerie collection as part of its Hanky Panky After Midnight line.

Adler, an executive producer of the film, acquired U.S. rights when it was a stage show in London, bringing it to his club The Roxy and then Broadway. “I’m not a connoisseur of lingerie, except as an observer,” he said, “so when the idea for Hanky Panky to do a line inspired by The Rocky Horror Picture Show was presented to me by [ALG CEO Ashley Austin], I asked three ladies what they thought of it, and all three said they were wearing Hanky Panky at the moment. That was good enough for me.  Now hum a few bars of ‘Hot Patootie.’”

The wild and untamed ambitions of ALG, a joint venture with Sony Music that provides licensing, branding strategy and merchandising services to the labels, are to take Rocky Horror into luxury apparel, lingerie, footwear, accessories, jewelry, timepieces, gifts & novelties, food & beverage, cosmetics and emojis. The goal is to introduce The Rocky Horror Picture Show to a new generation. Helping the brand will be Fox’s new production The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again that will air 10/20 on the Fox network. In the new version, Victoria Justice plays Janet, Ryan McCartan is Brad, Laverne Cox is cast as Dr. Frank-N-Furter and Staz Nair is Rocky. Adam Lambert and Ben Vereen are also in the cast.
