CHART STORY:
KHALED IS KING

After 12 non-consecutive weeks at #1, Drake’s Views (YMCMB/Republic) has been dethroned by DJ Khaled’s Major Key (We The Best/Epic). Khaled lands at #1 on HITSSales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart with 96k, while Drake slides gracefully to #2 with nearly 80k.

Of course, that doesn’t mean the #1 album is entirely Drake-less; Champagne Papi is featured on Khaled’s lead single, “For Free.” Khaled also stands as the top dog on the Album Sales Chart, as Major Key scores about 60k in album sales alone after a week-long Apple Music exclusivity period. The album has gone wide to remaining DSPs and is available in physical form. Wal-Mart up in this bitch, yo!

Ahem. Meanwhile, RCA Nashville’s Jake Owen enjoys a strong first week for American Love, which bows at #4 with roughly 36k.

Two other new releases debut in the SPS Top 10, courtesy of Fantasia (RCA) at #6 and Hillary Scott & The Scott Family (Capitol Nashville) at #8.

Warner Music Nashville's Blake Shelton enjoys the week's biggest boost, riding a CMA Music Festival telecast performance and 99-cent sale at Google to a #14-5 jump on the sales chart and #19-12 levitation at SPS. Epic's Meghan Trainor, meanwhile, zips #15-9, while her labelmates SYCO/Epic's Fifth Harmony also fly upward, moving #30-15 at SPS. Mom+Pop's Flume also see a nice boost, jetting #46-31.

Streeting this week are albums Interscope’s DJ Snake (whose new single features some lad called Bieber), Big Machine/BMLG’s The Cadillac Three and Dot/Big Machine’s Nick Fradriani, as well as NOW’s Now 59.

In election news, the latest polls have inspired Donald Trump to spend some quiet time in the Führerbunker.
