Former Warner Music Group big shot and great American Lyor Cohen will tie the knot this weekend at his Hamptons home. We know this because Page Six “exclusively” reported it Wednesday. According to a “source” quoted in the item, the invitation included a collection of 45s by “everyone from Johnny Cash to David Bowie and Madonna.”
The news of the nuptials—and the Madonna reference in particular—got us in a nostalgic mood about Lyor’s glorious reign at the Bunny, during the course of which he dismantled what was left of that once great company after Morgado and Fuchs started the job in the 1990s.
He got into a huge fight with Madge that caused her to leave the label after 25 years of hits. On top of that, Bernstein-Mensch moved Metallica to Warner Bros. from Elektra, their original major-label home, to get as far away from Cohen as possible at the time. They subsequently left WMG altogether, taking their masters with them.
Did we mention that Cohen’s North Haven spread features 170 feet of waterfront?
