MILEY SHEDS A "TEAR"

A woozy new track called "Teardrop" was released yesterday by Lolawolf—the independent group fronted by Zoe Kravitz. You may recognize the vocals, though, as they belong to none other than Miss Miley Cyrus. So far, the slow-burner is only available via iTunes and Apple Music.

This marks the first taste of new music from Miley since last year's experimental, not-for-sale collaboration with Wayne Coyne, Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz.

Although "Teardrop" is a far cry from 2013's party-starting Bangerz (which of course housed "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball"), it's definitely more mainstream and approachable than Dead Petz. Considering that rumors are swirling around the forthcoming release of her sixth studio album, it'll be interesting to see if the content leans more towards that of Bangerz, Dead Petz, "Teardrop" or her Mike Will Made-It collabs (i.e. "23," Future's "Real and True").

That said, it's possible that RCA's multi-faceted songstress—who will serve as a judge on the next season of The Voice and has a starring role in Woody Allen's still-untitled Amazon series—could go in a totally different sonic direction. In May, rock duo Stepfather teased working together on Instagram; see the embedded post below.

In a DM, they reportedly claimed, "We wrote a song together that we are going to be releasing as stepfather in the next couple of weeks as well as music for her upcoming project.”

A rockin' Miley record? It's definitely not out of the question. She is from Tennessee, after all, and certainly has no issue with the country genre. Have you heard her "Jolene" cover?

Will she go pop, hip-hop, rock, country or just flat-out trippy? Only time will tell. At least we know whatever she releases will pair well with a nice kush. Stay tuned for more info.
