U.K. MIDWEEKS: BIFFY LOOKING SPIFFY

Mon the Biff! That’s a statement of encouragement from fans of Biffy Clyro, the Scottish band angling for #1 on this week's U.K. Official Albums Chart. Their seventh studio album, Ellipses (Atlantic), is currently outselling the Top 5 combined at midweek stage.

It will be Biffy Clyro's second #1 following Opposites in 2013. The rest of the Top 5 consists of four previous entries: Adele’s 25 (XL) at #2, Rick Astley’s 50 (BMG) back up five places to #3, Coldplay’s A Head Full of Dreams (Parlophone) at #4 and All Over The World (RCA) from ELO at #5.

Over on the Official Singles Chart, it’s another fairly familiar list. The current #1, “One Dance” (Island) by Drake, is 2k sales ahead of Kungs vs Cookin’ on 3 Burners with “This Girl” (3 Beat).

However, at #3, there’s a promising new peak with a track that's also taken the U.S. by storm: The Chainsmokers’ “Don’t Let Me Down” f/Daya (Sony), which is up four places from Friday. Drake and Rihanna’s “Too Good” (Island) is down a place to #4 and Calvin Harris and Rihanna's “This Is What You Came For” (Columbia) also moves down to #5.
