R.I.P. DANNY DAVIS

Legendary promo man Danny Davis, who worked for Motown, Decca, Phil Spector's Philles label and Casablanca, among other companies, died on 6/22 at his home in Cali's Palm Desert. He was 87.

Over the course of a lengthy music-biz career, Davis worked artists from Eddie Fisher to KISS.

The Philly native, who toiled as a comic in the Catskills before trying his hand at music, worked with Fisher prior to taking the Director of Promotion job at Decca; he subsequently decamped to California to work for Spector's Philles. then came an SVP gig at Motown, after which he joined Neil Bogart's Casblanca.

Davis is survived by his wife, Marie, son Danny and daughter-in-law Jill, and two grandchildren. A memorial service is slated for 7/16.
