BEYONCÉ, KENDRICK SLAY BET AWARDS

The 2016 BET Awards Sunday (6/26) at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles was an A-List music star celebration featuring powerhouse performances from some of Pop and R&B's biggest stars, several tributes to the life and music of Prince and a stirring speech about racial justice from Greys Anatomy's Jesse Williams.

But Queen B stole the show, and she opened. By now, Beyoncé is known for her various surprises and become exceedingly skilled at finding the perfect moment to alter the pop landscape by dropping a new album, song, or in this case a fire performance— and her turn on the BET stage for the song "Freedom" should go down in the books as one of her best of all time.

Using an excerpt of MLK's "I Have A Dream" speech then storming into the song complete with all the water-filled choreography that's been the talk of her sold-out Lemonade tour, once Kendrick Lamar popped up for his verse at the end and joined her in the splashy romp, he and Bey proceeded to, well, slay.

She also walked home with the Video of the Year award for "Formation," and Best Female Pop/R&B Artist.

Usher, Maxwell, Bryson Tiller, Desiigner and burgeoning star Bibi Bourelly also delivered great performances, while the various Prince tributes were handled by The Roots, Erykah Badu, Bilal, Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder and Sheila E.

Returning BET Awards hosts Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson from ABC's Blackish kicked off the evening with a hilarious parody of Broadway's Hamilton, twerking in Victorian garb while spoofing the urban anthems "Panda" and "Down in the DM."
