U.K. CHARTS: RADIOHEAD RETURNS TO #1

Radiohead have fended off competition from Red Hot Chili Peppers and reclaimed the U.K. Official Albums Chart crown with combined chart sales of 44k in the first week of A Moon Shaped Pool’s (XL) physical release.

Of those sales, 39k were physical, with vinyl sales tallying 10.5k; both likely heavily swayed by preorders. It’s the album’s second non-consecutive week at #1 in Blighty after topping the chart on release on 5/8.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are #2 with The Getaway (Warner) on combined sales of 40k. Last week's #1, Rick Astley, is at #3 with 50 (BMG), Jake Bugg's third studio album, On My One (Virgin EMI), lands at #4 and Coldplay's A Head Full of Dreams (Parlophone) climbs one place to #5 following their four sold-out shows at Wembley Arena in London.

One of the newest stars playing Glastonbury this week is Christine and the Queens, whose debut album, Chaleur Humaine (Because Music), lands at #8 after a storming performance on BBC’s The Graham Norton Show last week.

Over on the Official Singles Chart, Drake is still king. “One Dance” (Island) is now the longest running chart topper of the digital age in the U.K. (defined as starting in 2004 with the arrival of legal download services), after notching up 11 weeks at the summit.

Drake was just over 3k combined chart sales ahead of nearest competitor; Kungs vs Cookin’ On 3 Burners’ “This Girl” (3 Beat). “One Dance” was also the most streamed track of the week with 4.67m listens since 6/17.

The rest of the chart remains the same: Justin Timberlake's “Can't Stop The Feeling” (RCA) holds at #3, Calvin Harris and Rihanna's “This Is What You Came For” (Columbia) stays at #4 and Drake and Rihanna’s “Too Good” (Island) is a non-mover at #5.
