ADELE’S 25 LANDS
ON SPOTIFY

Adele’s 25 (XL/Columbia) has arrived on Spotify for users in Australia and New Zealand (where it’s 6/24 as this is posted), and will be available to stream for the rest of the world when the clock strikes midnight in each time zone. It’s seven months since 25 was released on 11/20 on CD and as a digital download only.

25’s arrival on streaming services wasn’t unexpected—its predecessor, 21, followed the same pattern in 2011. 25’s three singles, “Hello,” “When We Were Young” and “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” have all been available to stream upon release. The move occurs just before Adele headlines Glastonbury festival in the U.K., on Saturday (6/25); the performance will be televised via the BBC.

The full album was held back as part of Adele and team’s release strategy, which turned out to be an incredibly smart move—25 has since shifted nearly 20m sales worldwide and remained at #1 in the U.K. for 12 weeks. In the U.S., the LP spent 10 non-consecutive weeks at #1 on the SPS chart, 11 non-consecutive weeks in sales.

Which begs the question, how will the blockbuster album's newly increased availability affect the charts this coming week? Stay tuned.
