U.K. MIDWEEKS: RADIOHEAD RETURNING TO #1?

Thanks to the physical release of A Moon Shaped Pool (XL) on Friday (6/17), Radiohead have rocketed back up the U.K. Official Albums Chart on sales of 34k at the midweek stage, and could join Adele and Drake as the only artists this year to have returned to the top spot.

It won’t be an easy win: Red Hot Chili Peppers are tailing closely with The Getaway (Warner) sitting 4k combined sales behind. A Moon Shaped Pool, which reached #1 on its digital-only release in May, has tallied more than 32k physical sales since Friday and 2k-plus digital and streaming equivalents.

Elsewhere, Virgin EMI act Jake Bugg is at #3 with his third album On My One; it’s set to be his third Top 5. Last week's #1, Rick Astley’s 50 (BMG), slips to #4, and Mumford & Sons' sixth EP Johannesburg (Island) could be their first to chart, sitting at #5 today. Props must be given to excellent French act Christine & The Queens, whose indie English language debut, Chaleur Humaine (Because Music), enters the Top 40 for the first time at #8.

Over on the Official Singles midweek list, Drake’s “One Dance” (Island) and Kungs’ remix of Cookin’ On 3 Burners’ “This Girl” (3 Beat) is still battling for the #1 spot. Drake is currently 1.8k combined chart sales behind at #2—will Kungs end his 10-week reign?

Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop The Feeling” (RCA) is holding at #3, while Calvin Harris and Rihanna’s “This is What You Came For” (Columbia) drops to #5.

So who’s at #4? Ministry of Sound have united SigalaJohn Newman and Nile Rodgers for “Give Me Your Love,” which has rocketed 87 places to enter the Top 5.
