FANS MOURN VOICE SINGER CHRISTINA GRIMMIE

Christina Grimmie, the 22-year-old former contestant on The Voice, was gunned down after an Orlando performance Friday night (6/10); her assailant subsequently took his own life.

Grimmie was signing autographs after a show by her band, Before You Exit, when she was shot; she died of her wounds in the hospital. After being tackled by Grimmie's brother, the 21-year-old shooter killed himself.

Grimmie had appeared on season six of The Voice on Adam Levine's team.

Music Business Association chief James Donio issued the following statement:

This is such a terrible shock, a sweet and talented young life cut short. I so enjoyed her performance at the 2014 National Music Publishers Association annual meeting. We talked about her being from Marlton, NJ and I invited her to visit our headquarters there someday. Unfortunately, now that day will never come. Our deepest condolences go out to Christina Grimme's family and friends.
