CHART STORY: VIEWS THAT WON’T QUIT

For a sixth consecutive week, YMCMB/Republic’s Drake has topped the HITS Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart, with another 135k for Views. That means his SPS total is now over 2m. Although his lengthy reign is quite jaw-dropping, it makes complete sense, considering he’s raked in 1 billion streams since the album’s release, and “One Dance” has sat atop Spotify’s U.S., U.K. and global charts for seven weeks now.

On the Album Sales Chart, Views finished at #4 with 31k, bringing him to the 1.23m mark there. Paul Simon’s Stranger to Stranger, meanwhile debuted at #1 with 66k on that chart. At SPS, Simon earned a couple thousand more to land at #3.

Republic’s Volbeat came in #4 on the SPS chart with 51k, while Columbia Nashville’s rising star, Maren Morris scored a Top 5 bow with 45k for debut full-length Hero.

Dan + Shay’s Obsessed (Warner Bros.) ended up as the only other new release to make the Top 15, landing at #9. On the album chart, Obsessed, Hellyeah’s Unden!able (Eleven Seven), Tegan and Sara’s Love You to Death (Warner Bros.) and Bear Tooth’s Aggressive (Red Bull) appear at #7, #8, #9 and #12, respectively.

Coincidentally, Bear Tooth is also the name we go by when dancing at Hollywood Men, our new side-gig, which we nabbed to make some extra dough following our office’s move to Hollywood Blvd.

Streeting 6/10 are albums from Paul McCartney, Island’s Nick Jonas, Capitol Nashville’s Little Big Town, Triple8’s Kaleo, Epic’s KONGOS, Glassnote’s The Temper Trap, Warner Bros.’ Brandy Clark, Interscope’s Band of Horses and Stunvolume’s Garbage, along with a 50th anniversary release of The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds–out via Capitol.
