U.K. MIDWEEKS: GRANDE IN BLIGHTY

Ariana Grande is headed for her first U.K. #1 album on Friday with Dangerous Woman (Island), leading the Official Albums charge at midweek stage. However, it’s an extremely close race, with Grande just 100 chart sales ahead of indie act Richard Ashcroft.

Verve frontman Ashcroft is back with his first solo effort in six years with These People, which goes through Martin Goldschmidt’s Cooking Vinyl in Blighty (via his own label Righteous Phonographic). If Ashcroft passes Grande, it will be the Cooking Vinyl's first U.K. #1 album since The Prodigy’s The Day Is My Enemy hit the top spot in March 2015. Grande is currently ahead on the U.K. iTunes Albums Chart at #4, while Ashcroft sits at #8.

Elsewhere, Beyoncé’s Lemonade (Columbia) falls to #3 and Drake ends his run at #1 as Views (Island) slides to #4. Rounding off the Top 5 is Bob Dylan with his 37th studio album, Fallen Angels (Columbia).

Over on the Official Singles Chart, it’s another tight race. Drake’s “One Dance” is still the frontrunner, but just 614 chart sales ahead of Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop The Feeling” (RCA).

Calvin Harris f/Rihanna’s “This Is What You Came For” (Columbia) stays put at #3 as does Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” (RCA/Monkey Puzzle) at #4. Meanwhile, “No Money” by Atlantic act Galantis knocks Mike Posner from #5.
