GREAT NORTH ROUNDUP: LIVE NATION MOVES; HAMILTON AWARDS

Erik Hoffman is moving half way across Canada to take over as President of Toronto for Live Nation Canada. John May has also been given a President title—he’ll be running Media and Corporate Partnerships.

Hoffman is moving over from his position as Senior Vice President, Talent in Vancouver and will lead the Live Nation team based at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre, where Michael Rapino's skybox doubles as a brew pub, eh?

“Erik and John have proven track records in concert and business development across the country, as well as extensive experience in successfully spearheading and fulfilling a number of initiatives, benefitting not just Toronto, but the entire national organization,” said Paul Haagenson, President Live Nation Canada. “We are excited to deepen our footprint in Canada’s most vibrant concert market.”

In other news from the Great White North, hosers Jonathan Kalter and Marc Pollack have been nominated for Managers of the Year at the 2016 Hamilton Music Awards. The MGMT Company duo were nominated for their work with Walk off the Earth, who were nominated for four awards themselves.

The respectable managers—all Canadian and thereby friendly—nominated in the category of Artist Manager of the Year (International) are Shauna de Cartier and Helen Britton (Whitehorse), Rob Lanni and Eric Lawrence, Coalition Music (Finger11, Ben Caplan), Oliver Mitchell, Bedlam Music Management (Monster Truck), Chris Taylor, Taylor Klein, Oballa Entertainment (Arkells) and Dina Young, Miller & Smith Management (Young Rival).

Kalter and Pollack have reserved sled dogs and two weeks' worth of poutine for the journey north to the Hamilton festival, being held May 26-29. The sled dogs have already requested reassignment.
