ALANIS SUES EX-BUSINESS MANAGER

Alanis Morissette has sued her former business manager for allegedly misappropriating $4.8m of her money over the last four years. The manager, Jonathan Schwartz, is also being sued by his firm, GSO Business Management, which is looking to expel him, plus secure repayment of a $588K advance and unspecified damages.

Morissette is suing both Schwartz and GSO for damages in excess of $15m. Her suit alleges Schwartz allowed her to transfer $8m out of her investment accounts, never telling her that the money came from savings. GSO, she alleged, “lacked proper internal controls” to safeguard against abuses.

Morissette fired Schwartz and GSO in March and discovered the withdrawals after a new business manager reviewed the GSO records. Morissette hired Schwartz in 2009.
