The Top 5 Highest-Grossing Films in America Over the Weekend

Disney's Captain America: Civil War raked in another $73m in its second week out, locking down the #1 spot at the box office with ease. That brings the film's domestic total to nearly $300m. Worldwide, it's at about $1b, bringing the Marvel Cinematic Universe overall cume to $10b from 13 films.

Sony/Columbia's Money Monster, which stars George Clooney and Julia Roberts, ended up as the highest-grossing debut with $15m.

1. Captain America: Civil War (Disney) $73m 4,226/$17,171 avg. (week 2)
2. The Jungle Book (Disney) $18m 3,970/$4,475 avg. (week 5)
3. Money Monster (Sony/Columbia) $15m 3,104/$4,832 avg. (debut)
4. The Darkness (High Top) $5m 1,755/$2,952 avg. (debut)
5. Mother's Day (Open Road) $3m 3,291/$990 avg. (week 3)

Outside of the Top 5, A24's romantic dark comedy, The Lobster, scored the best per-theater average with $188k from just four screens. The film stars Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz and received a 92% from Rotten Tomatoes.
