CHART STORY: VIEWS FROM THE TOP

New set from YMCMB/Republic Megastar Goes #1

Drake’s Views (YMCMB/Republic) has topped the HITS Album Sales Chart with 855k and the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart with just north of 1m, breaking the streaming record previously held by Beyoncé. Reminder: He, Bey and the Biebs are currently the only three artists to score more than 100m U.S. streams in their first week out.

Meanwhile, in its second week out, Beyoncé’s Lemonade (Columbia) holds strong, staying at #2 with another 61k.

Prince’s Purple Rain and The Very Best of Prince—both available through Warner Bros.—land at #3 and #4 with 49k and 45k, respectively. That said, his HITNRUN Phase 2, up 165%, sees a hefty bump, thanks to NPG—the company that just gave the 2015 set its first-ever week at physical.

Speaking of physical, expect other Prince titles to be up this week, considering that retail stores just received extra stock, following the recent increase in demand.

The second biggest bow, however, belongs to NOW’s Now 58, which earned 38k to round out the Top 5. Following that, there’s Rob Zombie’s new one, The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser (UMe), at #6, as well as SIXX:AM’s Prayers for the Damned (Eleven Seven) at #10 and Martina McBride’s Reckless (Nash Icon) at #15.

As for that Zombie set, coincidentally, its title is also the name of the device we use to smoke weed.

Thanks to a 99-cent sale at Google Play, DCD2/Fueled by Ramen’s Panic! at the Disco leaps #45-11 with Death of a Bachelor, while Ed Sheeran’s + (Asylum), Madonna’s Like a Virgin (Warner Bros.) and Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill (Maverick) re-enter at #20, #43 and #49, respectively.

And as Mother’s Day nears, Adele’s 25 (XL/Columbia) gets a nice boost, moving #11-8 with 23k.

Streeting this week are albums from Capitol Nashville’s Keith Urban, Island’s Mike Posner and Warner Bros. Nashville’s Cole Swindell.
