UMG U.K. UPS WEBB

David Joseph has promoted long-serving communications exec, Selina Webb, to EVP of Universal Music U.K., expanding her remit to a wider strategic role. After serving as Editor of trade title Music Week, Webb was recruited by Lucian Grainge in 1998 as Director of Press for Polydor, where she worked alongside Joseph who was GM of the label at the time.

After Joseph took the top job in 2008, he named Webb Senior Director of Communications for UMG U.K. in 2010.

In her new role, Webb will be actively involved in all strategic issues, as well as leading wider industry relations. She will also be a key member of the team overseeing the move of Universal Music’s London offices from High Street Kensington to St Pancras Square in 2018.

Said Joseph: “Selina knows our company and our industry inside out, and has played a key role in Universal Music’s success. Her new role reflects her exceptional creative and commercial instincts, and I know she will make further significant contributions as we continue to create new opportunities for our artists and labels.”

Webb will continue to oversee internal and external communications for labels including Capitol, Decca, Island, Polydor, UMC, UMTV and Virgin EMI, as well as the sync, brand partnership and TV production division Globe, live entertainment division U-Live and Abbey Road Studios.
