KOBE DROPS THE MIC—AND 60 POINTS—IN AN ASTOUNDING GRAND FINALE

The very best in the game—the hip-hop game, that is—came out in full force Wednesday night to watch and honor Kobe Bryant, as the basketball legend played the last game of his 20-year professional career. Kobe delivered, scoring an astonishing 60 points and hitting the go-ahead basket in an improbable 101-96 win over the Utah Jazz, playing the hapless roles of the Washington Generals.

Celebrating "Mamba Day" as the legendary Laker bid farewell to basketball were Jay Z and Kanye West, Snoop and bona fide locals/TDE crew Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q., along with Jimmy Iovine, Joe Smith, Norm PattizLamar Odom (sitting next to Yeezus), Magic Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal, David Beckham, and, of course, perennial fans and courtside fixtures (until the last woebegone couple of seasons) Jack Nicholson and Lou Adler. All were on hand for the final bow and witnessed history being made.

"I can't believe how fast 20 years went by—man, this is crazy," Bryant said while addressing the crowd post-game.  Then, in a true drop-the-mic/weirdly Ryan Seacrest moment, Bryant ended his incredible era with, "What can I say? Mamba out."
