Kanye: Streaming into the record books?
A RACE FOR #1 ON SPS CHART: CAN KANYE AND SCOOTER STREAM TO VICTORY?

The latest indicators suggest that Kanye West is on track for about 100m streams this week on The Life of Pablo (G.O.O.D./Def Jam) and if download sales from his website are reported and certified and are sufficient to make up the difference, he could overtake Chris Stapleton for the #1 spot on the HITS Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) chart.

Those big streaming numbers, of course, come primarily from Spotify and Apple Music, where Pablo has been the #1 streaming title since ending its TIDAL exclusive and going wide. The announcement coincided with news that Kanye had added Scooter Braun to his management team.

Will Braun, who worked his multi-faceted mojo to shepherd Justin Bieber to an impressive chart victory after a fierce sales battle with One Direction—and launching a massive sales story for Biebs that continues to this day—work that same mojo to bring Kanye a win?

Stapleton's Traveller (Mercury Nashville) is a lock for #1 on our Album Sales Chart. Will Kanye rack up the numbers to overtake the Nashville breakout on the SPS side, and become the first release to do so almost entirely with streams? Stay tuned.
