ZAYN BUMPS ADELE FROM U.K. #1

ZAYN’s plan for world domination took a strong step in his native land as his RCA debut Mind Of Mine debuts at #1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart, topping Adele’s 25 (XL) by about 4k combined sales. 14th Floor’s Beautiful Lies, from fellow Brit Birdy, debuts at #4.

Americans occupy the other slot sin the Top 5 with Provogue’s blues rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa landing at #3 with Blues Of Desperation, and Justin Bieber’s Purpose (Def Jam) at #5. It marks the Biebs’ 20th consecutive week in the Top 5.

Years & Years turned a performance on The Voice UK into a significant chart gain as their Polydor release Communion rises 14 places to #11. Sumerian’s British metal act Asking Alexandria scored a career best chart position as The Black opens at #15. Downtown’s White Denim secured their first U.K. Top 20 album as Stiff opens at #20, and Columbia’s Amon Amarth lands at #30 with Jomsviking.

Meanwhile, on the Official Singles Chart, Island’s Mike Posner drops in for a third week at #1 with “I Took A Pill In Ibiza,” SYCO’s Fifth Harmony and Monkey Puzzle/RCA’s Sia registered career highs and Epic’s Meghan Trainor and Disruptor’s Chainsmokers log in strong chart bursts.

The Seeb remix of “Ibiza” moved 84,000 combined chart sales, a 2,000 unit increase over the week previous; it is also the most streamed song of the week with just over 4.2 million plays.

Fifth Harmony’s “Work from Home” rose one slot to #2, a career high for the quintet, on combined sales of 64,000. Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” rose four slots to #4, topping “Chandelier,” which peaked at #6 in 2014. Lukas Graham's “7 Years” (Warner Bros.) dropped a slot to #3.

Alan Walker’s “Faded” (Relentless), #1 on the Official Trending Chart, rose seven spots to #11. The Chainsmokers’ “Roses” bloomed seven places to #26 and Trainor's “No” makes its chart debut at #30. It’s likely it will spike again after her appearance on The Voice UK.
