DNCE’s “Cake by the Ocean” has enjoyed strong breakout success, although frontman Joe Jonas is in no way new to the scene. The Republic project’s first single dropped back in October, but remains Top 10 at iTunes—having moved about 820k tracks—and Shazam. Talk about stamina.
“Cake” is currently #6 at Top 40 radio, while its official and lyric videos boast a combined 51m views.
That one was produced by Warner/Chappell hitmakers Mattman & Robin (Taylor Swift, Ellie Goulding, Selena Gomez), who wrote the song, along with Jonas (UMPG) and Semi Precious Weapons frontman Justin Tranter (another W/C writer).
