According to a report by Digital Music News, vinyl earned more than all free streaming services combined in 2015 by a difference of $37.2m, trumping the likes of YouTube Music, VEVO, SoundCloud and the free tier of Spotify.
The ad-supported, on-demand services pulled in $385.1m in yearly revenue—a 30.6% jump from 2014's number—while the sales from LPs, EPs and singles brought in $422.3m (9.6% more). That also means that vinyl sales grew 32% since the previous year.
We may be living in a digital world, but it looks like physical is putting up a serious fight. That being said, when we look at paid streaming services, the tables turn, as paid streaming produced $1.22b in revenue.
