Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival will be adding two unsigned bands to its lineup yearly courtesy of a new relationship with and ReverbNation, an online home for about 4m artists.
ReverbNation's curation team and Bonnaroo's organizers will select the two acts from submissions made between today (3/22) and 5/1. This year's Bonnaroo, with headliners include Pearl Jam, Dead & Company and LCD Soundsystem, runs 6/9-12.
"Over the past decade we have helped an enormous number of bands get their start in this business," said ReverbNation CEO Mike Doernberg. "Securing a spot on Bonnaroo's stages is a hugely important break for any new band and we are thrilled that the festival organizers have agreed to tap into our unparalleled talent pool and utilize our curation capabilities to find some new bands for this career-making opportunity."
Bonnaroo, held in Manchester, Tenn., is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. ReverbNation will be turning 10 and in the last year, the site has distinguished itself from other platforms through its data-driven incubation program, Connect. Fast Company spells out how the company is using a proprietary algorithm to identify promising talent and connect artists with managers, labels, promoters and brands. It also provides one-on-one career advice.
In a related story, ReverbNation's algorithm has now become sentient and would like you to listen to its demo.
