OK, so SoundExchange has launched its ISRC Search Site, which—WAIT! Before your eyes glaze over, you should care because this could help you not leave money on the table.

Got it? OK. This free service is designed to give the biz global access to a database of info about 20 million ISRCs (International Sound Recording Codes) that will—WAKE THE FUCK UP!—help creators get paid by digital services using their music.

The codes are crucial for identifying individual recordings in the vastness of the digital universe (we tested it out on some very obscure titles, and the shit is tight). While they’ve been available elsewhere, nobody but SoundExchange has made it so easy. Biz orgs like the RIAA, the IFPI, the AFM and indie consortium A2IM are all about it.

SoundExchange CEO Michael Huppe proclaimed, “We created this critical resource to improve our own efficient royalty processing, and we are delighted now to give the music community access to this much-needed data.” He then lit a cigar with a hundie, because he’s gangsta like that.
