Lana Rae Meisner, 63, the wife of original Eagles bass player Randy Meisner, shot herself while trying to retrieve a gun from the closet following a domestic-violence 911 call at their Studio City home on Sunday.
LAPD officers responded to a call at the home from a woman asking for help with an intoxicated man at about 5:30pm. Officers took a domestic-violence-incident report and left the scene but were called back at 7pm for a shooting at the home.
"When officers arrived, they found Mrs. Meisner suffering from a single gunshot wound," according to an LAPD statement. "Mrs. Meisner was moving a rifle that was stored inside a case in a closet. As she lifted the rifle in the case, another item within the case shifted and hit the trigger of the rifle causing it to fire and fatally injure Mrs. Meisner."
Meisner has been cleared, law-enforcement officials told TMZ Monday morning.
