U.K. CHARTS: WMG U.K. SCORES DOUBLE WHAMMY

Max Lousada’s Warner Music U.K. has scored the top two spots on the U.K.’s Official Charts this week, as Parlophone’s Coldplay claim their seventh U.K. #1 album, thanks to a boost from the headline Super Bowl halftime slot, while Danish act Lukas Graham (above) tops singles, with “7 Years” notching up combined sales of 105k.

Coldplay’s A Head Full of Dreams missed out on hitting #1 on its release in December, settling for runner-up thanks to the monstrous sales of XL’s Adele’s 25. Sales of which are still showing little sign of letting up, as 25 climbs two spots to sit at #2 on the Official Albums Chart this week.

Three more Top 5 stalwarts remain with last week’s #1, David Bowie’s Best of Bowie (Parlophone) at #3, Justin Bieber’s Purpose (Virgin EMI) up one place to #4 and Bowie’s swan song, Blackstar (RCA), at #5. Rihanna has yet to crack the Top 5 in Blighty with ANTI (Virgin EMI); will her appearance at the BRIT Awards on 2/24 change that? Elton John’s Wonderful Crazy Night (Virgin EMI), meanwhile, enters at #6.

Lukas Graham has shot from #6 to #1 with “7 Years” (WMG) on the Official Singles Chart, thanks to heavyweight radio support and 3.65m streams. The track is #2 on the RadioMonitor charts, up 19 places from last week.

Zayn’s “PILLOWTALK” (RCA) is down to #2, and Jonas Blue & Dakota’s “Fast Car” (Positiva) is at #3. Rihanna’s “Work” holds at #4, and fellow Virgin EMI act Shawn Mendes is at #5 with “Stitches.”
