IT’S 1975 AGAIN

Here’s a chance to listen to the sweet sound of British up-and-comers The 1975 live, playing their latest single "The Sound" via a session in BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge. The band’s highly anticipated second album, out 2/26, has garnered some high praise indeed.

The 1975 are managed by Jamie Oborne, who set up his label Dirty Hit to release their U.K. #1 debut back in 2013 for lack of any better offers. They’ve since signed a licensing deal with UMG’s Polydor, currently helmed by the soon-to-be-departed Ferdy Unger-Hamilton.

Produced by Mike Crossey (the same guy that worked on their exquisitely produced self-titled debut), second set I Like it When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It, was described in a recent interview with Spin as “a 17-track, 74-minute behemoth that veers wildly between ‘80s faux-funk, ambient house, gospel-tinged R&B, Autre ne Veut-like fever-pop and acoustic balladry,” and "just as unwieldy and unguarded and stunning as its appellation."

The band’s new single, "Somebody Else," will be released on Monday after being premiered on Beats 1 as one of Zane Lowe’s world records.
