U.K. MIDWEEKS: COLDPLAY TO SCORE SEVENTH #1

Parlophone’s Coldplay could claim their seventh U.K. #1 album as the band’s Super Bowl halftime headline show shoots A Head Full of Dreams to the top spot in the Official Albums Chart midweeks. Currently 8k sales ahead of Adele’s 25 (XL), the set is looking highly likely to improve its #2 peak.

Friday’s #1—David Bowie’s retrospective Best of Bowie (Parlophone)—is down one place to #2, while Elton John’s Wonderful Crazy Night (Virgin EMI) enters at #3.

Max Lousada's Warner U.K. could steal both the albums and singles top spot this week as Danish act Lukas Graham shoot from #6 to #1 with “7 Years” on the Official Singles midweeks, thanks in no small part to radio support and growing traction on streaming services. The single, released last month, was BBC Radio 1’s Track of the Day on 2/4, and it’s currently on Radio 1's C List. It was also a new addition at Global’s Capital and Heart last week. “7 Years” has improved from #21 to #14 on the RadioMonitor charts with 2,335 spins since Friday. It's currently sitting at #4 on Spotify's U.K. Top 50 chart with nearly 300k daily plays, and #2 on Apple Music's Top Songs.

ZAYN’s “Pillowtalk” (RCA) is behind by 5k sales at #2, while a trio of acts from Ted Cockle's Virgin EMI rule the remaining Top 5: Jonas Blue’s “Fast Car” (that goes through dance imprint Positiva) at #3, Shawn Mendes' “Stitches” at #4 and Rihanna f/Drake’s “Work” at #5.
