STAPLETON, ISBELL WIN OVER CRITICS

Chris Stapleton and Jason Isbell dominated the Nashville Scene’s 16th annual Country Music Critics Poll going 1-2 on the lists of artist of the year, albums, male vocalists and songwriters.

Traveller was named album of the year by the poll of 82 voting journalists. Isabel’s Something More Than Free came in second as did his single “24 Frames.”

Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush” was #1 on the singles list and the quartet topped the duos and groups list as well. Ashley Monroe was top female vocalist; The Mavericks were deemed #1 live act; and Cam was the premier new act.

Bob Dylan and Columbia/Legacy went 1-2 in the reissue department. The compilation Dylan, Cash and the Nashville Cate: A New Music City was the #1 reissue followed by The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: Bootleg Series Vol. 12.
