DANCIN' THROUGH SUNDANCE

This year’s Sundance Film Festival is already in full swing, and members of the music community can be found frolicking in the snow at the famed Park City, UT, event, which runs 1/21-31.

For one, BMI is hosting the 14th annual BMI Snowball with performances from Alexander Jean, KT Tunstall, Drew Holcomb and Family of the Year, while ASCAP sets up camp for their Music Café 2016, where Sting, Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear, R. City, Lady A’s Charles Kelley and more are performing.

On the same night, Republic artist Andrew Watt took the stage with Sting and Royal Machines (featuring Juliette Lewis, Josh Freese, David Kushner, Mark McGrath, Donovan Leitch, Chris Chaney and more). See them jam out to "Message in a Bottle" here.

Meanwhile at The Blackhouse at Sundance, John Legend led a look at the making of WGN America’s Underground—a series, executive produced by Legend, that "follows a group of slaves who plan a daring escape from a Georgia plantation to cross 600 miles to freedom."

Also on Saturday night (just before the clock struck midnight), Rob Zombie's
seventh feature film, 31, made its world premiere.

And earlier in the week, Warner Bros.' Grammy-nominated Andra Day (pictured below) serenaded crowds at the Toyota Mirai Music Lodge

The Land—a film executive produced by Nas, which stars Erykah Badu—also had four showings, as well as a party in its honor. Other music-centric films available to be seen include Eat That Question - Frank Zappa in His Own Words and the Spike Lee-directed Michael Jackson's Journey From Motown to Off the Wall.

As you can see, there's plenty for the music geek to enjoy.

Some advice: don't eat the yellow snow. Also, don't throw yellow snowballs at people. That might have something to do with why we haven't been invited back since 2010.
