The initial batch of Grammy performers has just been announced by the Recording Academy, and it’s a high-powered crew, with Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Little Big Town and Her Royal Highness, Adele. The press release also reveals that to MusiCares Person of the Year Lionel Richie will get a “special tribute” during the show. And in case you thought you dreamed it, the release notes that the Grammys “will be broadcast live…on the CBS Television Network, Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.”
What the release doesn't say is that the Hamilton cast will perform the opening number on the show. Bank on it. That’s one advantage of the Monday telecast: The cast wouldn’t be available any other night of the week—they have to work.
