CAROLINE HEARTS SAWIN

Caroline veteran Matt Sawin has been awarded his SVP stripes by GMs Piero Giramonti and Jacqueline Saturn, as they continue the reorganization of UMG’s indie-distribution company.

Sawin has been with Caroline since its inception as EMI’s Label Services division in 2008, playing an instrumental role in the integration of a la carte label services and independent distribution inside the company. Since the 2012 rebranding of the company under the Caroline nameplate, Sawin has been integral to the division’s four consecutive years of its best marketshare performance and numerous accomplishments, including Caroline’s first-ever #1 albums—from All Time Low and Alabama Shakes—within three weeks of each other last year. Additional wins under Sawin’s leadership have included Brandi Carlile achieving her highest chart position (#4) in her 10-plus-year career; an impactful developing-artist campaign for Glass Animals; three consecutive gold albums for Five Finger Death Punch (including a #1 debut on their latest) and driving the marketing campaign for Halsey.

“Matt has been our go-to person in the commercial area since the relaunch of Harvest, and he’s never failed to impress us with his business acumen and keen marketing sense,” Giramonti and Saturn said in unison. “He’s a passionate music fan, as well, which is vital to maintaining the long-term commitment needed for artists to achieve success in the independent arena.”

For his part, Sawin is "honored to be playing an expanded role in building and propelling a division that allows us to partner with new, developing and established artists in presenting their music to the world, while enabling them to tap into our ever-growing set of services and resources. I couldn’t be more proud of how far we’ve come and tremendously excited about our future under Jacqueline’s and Piero’s leadership.”
