ADELE, BIEBER, COLDPLAY LINED UP FOR BRIT AWARDS

The biggest date in the U.K. music industry's calendar in 2016 is shaping up to be one to remember, with Adele, Coldplay and, for the first time, Justin Bieber, confirmed to perform at the BRIT Awards. It was only right that XL superstar Adele would be a big part of the night after her phenomenally successful year and the other two haven't done too badly either.

Adele last graced the stage at the awards ceremony in 2012 when she sang "Rolling in the Deep," having given a memorable performance of "Someone Like You" the previous year. In 2013, the singer won Best British Single for her James Bond theme tune "Skyfall," but she accepted the award via video link. Beginning with the Critics’ Choice Award in 2008, Adele has won a total of three BRIT Awards, including British Female Solo Artist in 2012.

Parlophone's Coldplay, who will headline the Super Bowl 50 halftime show on 2/7, return to the BRITs to perform for the first time since 2013. With six #1 albums to date, and a #2 with latest effort A Head Full of Dreams, the band earned their first BRIT nomination in 2001 and have since been nominated 21 times.

Bieber, meanwhile, has had three U.K. #1 singles this year with "What Do You Mean?," "Sorry" and recent smash "Love Yourself". In November, eight songs from his latest album Purpose charted on Blighty's Top 40 making Bieber the first artist ever to have so many simultaneous entries. He also became the first living artist to knock himself off the top spot when "Love Yourself" replaced "Sorry." The Def Jam rascal is the first act to have three consecutive weeks at #1 and #2 since The Beatles in 1968. He won the BRIT Award for International Breakthrough Act in 2011, and this will be his first live BRIT performance.

Said BRITs Chairman and WMUK Chairman/CEO Max Lousada: "You couldn’t get a bigger name in music right now. Adele is having an exceptional moment, and the BRITs are delighted to be a part of her history, her present and future. [We're also] excited to welcome two [more] of the biggest acts in the world right now to next year's awards—Coldplay, who are undoubtedly one of our greatest music success stories, and pop sensation Justin Bieber, who will be coming to London for his first-ever BRITs performance. Next year's awards is shaping up to be a fantastic night of British and international music."

Award nominees will be revealed on 1/14, with more performers set to be announced ahead of the ceremony, which will be broadcast live on ITV
