UMPG GOES TO THE MOVIES WITH STX DEAL

UMPG has inked a worldwide pact with media company STX Entertainment to administer and represent all the company's soundtracks, scores and catalogue of related pub rights across all media, including music for the new Julia Roberts thriller, Secret in Their Eyes, the Matthew McConaughey actioner The Free State of Jones and horror flick The Boy.

The deal was announced by pubco chief Jody Gerson and STX execs Sophie Watts, Thomas McGrath and Jason Markey.

STX produced Joel Edgerton's acclaimed indie The Gift. The company's current production slate includes Besties with Hailee Steinfeld, Woody Harrelson and Kyra Sedgwick and The Space Between Us with Gary Oldman. Five films are set to begin production in the next four months.

Gerson hailed STX as "an exciting new studio and media company" and anticipated "a long and creative partnership."

"To have our motion picture music rights represented allover the world by UMPG gives us the support of a true global giant," Watts proclaimed, "and we are thrilled that Jody Gerson and her team are our partners. This is a win-win for both of our companies."

UMPG EVP/Head of Film and TV Music Brian Lambert expressed pride in the relationship, adding, "It's a great opportunity to collaborate musically and we're excited to work even more closely with Jason and their talented film executive team."
