U.K. MIDWEEKS: LITTLE MIX, ELVIS, ELLIE SQUARE OFF

Polydor’s Ellie Goulding is sitting at #3 on the midweek Official Albums Chart in Blighty with Delirium as her ambitious marketing plan plays out with a prime-time spot on the X Factor ad break on Saturday, an interview and performance on Graham Norton’s BBC chat show on Friday and radio and Spotify exclusives. Will another four days be enough to propel her to #1?

It’s not looking likely, as SYCO’s Little Mix look set to steal the top spot with third album Get Weird, with last week’s victor Elvis and Her Majesty’s Philharmonic Orchestra collab, If I Can Dream (RCA/Legacy Recordings), just 566 chart sales behind.

If Goulding manages to surpass Little Mix and Elvis before Friday, it will be her third U.K. #1 album. If Little Mix hold on to the top spot, they’ll be awarded their first.

The Beatles' huge deluxe reissue of their chart-topping album 1 (Apple Corps) is at #4, while Rod Stewart’s Another Country (Capitol/Decca) falls three places to #5.

Adele sits at the helm of the U.K's Official Singles Chart with “Hello” (XL/Columbia) for the third week running. The Queen of Pop's comeback track is 21,000 combined chart sales ahead of Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” (Def Jam).

Atlantic newcomers hip-hop trio WSTRN look set to bag this week’s highest new entry with "In2" at #3.

2014 X Factor runner-up Fleur East is at #4 with debut single “Sax” (SYCO) and Sam Smith’s former chart-topping Bond theme “Writing’s On The Wall” (Capitol) is heading for a seventh week in the Top 20 at #5.

Other notable new entries include the U.K. Top 40 debut from Decca-signed Norwegian singer/songwriter Aurora, who last week received a huge promo boost after being chosen to sing the annual anthem for the Christmas ad campaign of department store John Lewis. The track - a cover of Oasis’ “Half The World Away” - is at #6.

Meanwhile, the first single from Coldplay’s newly announced upcoming seventh album A Head Full Of Dreams “Adventure Of A Lifetime” (Parlophone) is at #8.
