U.K. MIDWEEKS: THE KING AND THE QUEEN

A legendary U.S. King is sitting at #1 on the midweek U.K. Official Albums Chart, as If I Can Dream (RCA/Legacy Recordings), a set of orchestral reworkings of Elvis’ biggest hits, looks destined to award the late singer with his 12th chart-topping album in Blighty. Adele is firmly hanging on to the Official Singles Chart top spot, surpassing Justin Bieber by 45k combined chart sales.

Rod Stewart is Elvis' nearest competitor with his 29th studio album, Another Country (Capitol/Decca), while new music from the three male solo artists signed to Universal, Guy Garvey (Polydor), James Morrison (Island) and Maverick Sabre (Virgin EMI), sit at #3, #6 and #32, respectively.

A collaboration with Her Majesty's Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, If I Can Dream is currently 7k combined chart sales ahead of Stewart.

Garvey's Courting the Squall is his first solo release and sits one step ahead of SYCO-signed Britain's Got Talent finalists Jack Pack with their self-titled album at #4.

Elsewhere, Sheffield rockers Def Leppard look set to score their first U.K. Top 10 album in over seven years via Ear Music with their new eponymous release, which starts today at #5.

Singles-wise, Adele's huge “Hello” (XL)—her first U.K. chart-topper in three years—isn’t budging from the top spot, while Justin Bieber's “Sorry” stays firmly in second place.

Sam Smith’s Bond theme, “Writing’s On The Wall” (Capitol), climbs one place to #3 today, followed by KDA’s “Turn The Music Louder (Rumble)” feat. Tinie Tempah & Katy B (Ministry of Sound), up two places to #4, and The Weeknd’s “The Hills” (Republic Records/XO), which holds firm at #5.
