Lionel Richie has been named 2016 MusiCares Person of the Year and will be celebrated at a special gala highlighting his extraordinary career during Grammy Week.
The star-studded tribute for Richie is set for Saturday 2/13 at L.A.'s Staples Center, with a star-studded concert featuring performances by Zac Brown, Lenny Kravitz, Lady Antebellum, John Legend, the Roots, Usher, Pharrell Williams, and Stevie Wonder, Luke Bryan and Demi Lovato.
Past MusiCares Person of the Year honorees include a heavy list of legends such as Bob Dylan, Bono, Quincy Jones, Paul McCartney, Barbara Streisand, Bruce Springsteen-- among many other music luminaries.
Proceeds from the annual Person of the Year tribute — now in its 26th year — provide essential support for MusiCares, which ensures that music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need.
Richie has already been on everyone's lips this week, since he was the subject of a hilarious meme that mashed up his iconic 1983 hit, "Hello," with Adele's recently released song of the same name:
