MARTIN'S MOMENT CONTINUES

Max Martin may have multiple reasons to be happy when the Grammy nominations are announced on 12/7.

There's a very good chance he'll have two Song of the Year nominations, for co-writing Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" and The Weeknd's "Can't Feel My Face." That would make the Swedish hit-maker the first songwriter to land two Song of the Year nominations in the same year since 1994, when Elton John & Tim Rice scored with two songs from The Lion King.

Moreover, Martin would become the first songwriter with two Song of the Year finalists that were popularized by two different artists since 1979, when Dino Fekaris & Freddie Perren scored with "I Will Survive" (the Gloria Gaynor classic) and "Reunited" (a hit for Peaches & Herb).

Martin has received three Song of the Year noms in the past, for co-writing Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way," Katy Perry's "Roar" and Swift's "Shake It Off." Martin won Producer of the Year, Non-Classical at the Grammys in February.

This comes from our Grammy whisperer Paul Grein, who has already has a bad case of Grammy fever—and here it's only October.
