The Top 5 Highest Grossing Films Over the Weekend Domestically

Goosebumps, Sony's adaptation of R.L. Stine's eerie children's books, was the highest-grossing film in America this weekend, earning $24m. The Top 5 includes three debuts, including Buena Vista's Bridge of Spies, directed by Steven Spielberg, and Universal's Crimson Peak, Guillermo del Toro's otherworldly thriller, which opened to lukewarm reviews.

1. Goosebumps (Sony) $24m 3,501/$6,712 avg. (debut)
2. The Martian (Fox) $22m 3,701/$5,809 avg. (week 3)
3. Bridge of Spies (Buena Vista) $15m 2,811/$5,471 avg. (debut)
4. Crimson Peak (Universal) $13m 2,984/$4,306 avg. (debut)
5. Hotel Transylvania 2 (Sony) $12m 3,533/$3,467 avg. (week 4)

Still in limited release and just outside of the Top 10, Universal's Steve Jobs saw a 197% bump in its second week out; the film, which stars Michael Fassbender as the late Apple CEO, scored a whopping $26k average across just 60 theaters.
