AMY ZARET, R.I.P.

Warner Bros.' Amy Zaret, who called the label home for some 25 years and most recently served as SVP Sales, passed away this morning after a brief battle with cancer. She was beloved by many, and as Chairman/CEO Cameron Strang said in his just-released memo (pasted below), "Amy lived and breathed Warner Bros. Records with a passionate dedication to our artists and their music."

She is survived by her six-year-old son, Jake. A gathering will take place at WBR (3300 Warner Blvd., Burbank) at around 3pm on Friday (10/16). Donations for Jake's education can be made here.

Dear Colleagues,

It is with deep sadness and with a heavy heart that I write you to share the heartbreaking news that Amy Zaret passed away this morning after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Today is a sad day for all those who were blessed to know her and work with her. A member of the WBR family for 25 years, Amy lived and breathed Warner Bros. Records with a passionate dedication to our artists and their music. She was an outstanding executive, a beloved colleague, and an exceptional friend.

Amy was a force of nature – smart, joyous, funny, intuitive, and tenacious. She was a sports fanatic, a wine fanatic, a Tom Petty and Fleetwood Mac fan, a chocolate chip cookie fanatic, and a happy hour guru, with a laugh that was contagious. Amy was a devoted daughter, sister, and mother to 6-year-old Jake. Her strength and bravery over these last weeks was incredible, and it’s a testament to her amazing character that so many friends from across the country flew in to take care of her.

Amy is part of the soul of our company, and she will be greatly missed. Over the next few days we will be in touch regarding funeral arrangements and our plans to honor Amy. Please join me in keeping Amy in your thoughts and prayers and in extending our deepest sympathies to her family during this very difficult time.

Peace,
Cameron
