KENDRICK POPS & GROOVES

Kendrick Lamar has announced a series of upcoming dates in some uniquely cool settings.

On 10/20, Lamar will perform a special one-night-only date at the Kennedy Center in DC with the National Symphony Orchestra—collaborating on a live, classical remix of his "lyrical masterpiece," To Pimp a Butterfly. Not surprisingly, this extraordinary mash-up quickly sold out.

Lamar isn't the first hip-hop artist to team with the NSO Pops. Nas performed last year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his classic Illmatic, and in 2013, the symphony took on Phish's Trey Anastasio.

Then, via Instagram Monday morning, King Kendrick revealed a series of "intimate" shows called Kunta's Groove Sessions. Billed as the "First Annual," the groovy gatherings will take place in eight cities over eight nights, although exact dates and cities have yet to be announced.
